Patanjali’s Yoga Aphorisms

This ancient “Raja Yoga” treatise on control of mind and body for the purposes of meditation and regeneration is of great use to serious students.  The text is advanced and assumes the reader has reached a sound understanding of Theosophical philosophy.

H.P. Blavatsky said “Read Patanjali’s Yoga Philosophy; but with caution, for it is very apt to mislead, being written in symbolic language.”       (intro to raja yoga blavatsky)

This rendition of the Aphorisms of Patanjali was written by William Q Judge to provide such needed and clear insights; therefore his work is uniquely valuable to students of theosophy as it preserves the real meaning of the Sutras which have been lost over time.  Even today many of the advocates of Patanjali’s sublime system have added to it unsafe Tantra and Hatha Yoga practices.

These are thankfully wholly absent in WQJ’s interpretation and are also warned against by him at the common points of departure where some wander from the old, safe Path that he exemplified in his life and work.

Available in hard cover or paperback editions.
